Urban sustainability
We need to green in our urban environments, but how can we do that when they are only becoming more densely populated. We should always fight for more greenspace with parks and gardens but where we can’t the only logical solution is to look up.
Greenwalls go beyond aesthetics, serving as a natural solution to regulate the internal temperature of a building by effectively moderating the ambient air temperature. It also acts as a shield, preventing excessive heat from the sun from penetrating and being absorbed into the substrate, which can later be released and further contribute to the Urban heat island effect. With smart design, we can retrofit greenwalls to existing structures and instantly revitalise a space. Systems can be fixed directly to concrete, core-filled blockwork or brick capable of supporting 60 kg/m² — which most structures can. Fences and dividers may also be suitable, or we can install an independent support frame to carry the load where required.
